It feels like it has been forever since I have gotten behind my camera, but it really hasn’t. It has just been behind the scenes. I took two weekends off in September to “refill my cup” as I navigated switching my youngest son to online learning, I then photographed both 2021 Holiday Scenes, only to have weather be a deciding factor on the other weekends. I’ll be back in action this weekend, though, with a horror themed best friend session that I couldn’t be happier about.
In the meantime, though, I was able to get behind the camera today for a very personal reason. Anyone remember my oldest, Malachi? My Marine? He is in town…and coincidently his leave happened to “sorta” meet up with his younger brothers birthday. What does this mean? It means that said younger brother went from wanting “nothing” to…basically EVERYTHING: cake, nerf gun war, mom’s homemade meatball sandwiches. Who am I to say no? After all it will be at LEAST eight months until we see him again. So mom made it happen….with camera in tow to capture the memories. Needless to say bellies are full, kids are overdosing on sugar, and lots of fun was had.
Unfortunately, I have to take Malachi to the airport at 6am. It is not easy being the mother…or sibling…to a Marine (or any military member). We will miss him, but as my friend/client Lynn said to me earlier: It’s not goodbye, it’s see you later.
P.S. I got Jakobe his first cellphone for his birthday. Guess what ended up at the bottom of the washer – after the wash – this evening? Ugh.
